The Carp Fishing World Championships is without a doubt the ultimate Carp fishing Competition in the world. Simply put, this is where the best of the best compete against each other for the sport’s most iconic title of official “Carp fishing World Champions”
Many thousand of anglers around the world compete every year for a place in their country’s National team and for most the dream remains just that, a dream. Australian Carp Anglers are extremely fortunate to not only have a unique opportunity to compete but also a real chance to do very well at next year’s event. What makes this even more special is that next year’s competition will be the 4th Sport Fishing World Games which means that 14 Sea and Freshwater World Championships will take place simultaneously in one country. Next year’s host country is South Africa and local knowledge will certainly make us extremely competitive.
As many of you already know, are we in the process of establishing Bank Angler Clubs in various states which will be part of our national structure and team selection process in future. With a registration deadline of 15 September, the committee unfortunately do not have any other choice but to select a team based predominantly on the information provided by anglers on their Notice of Interest forms.
It is important that anglers who complete this form fully understand the financial commitment as well as the physical and mental requirements to be a competitive member of the team. There is no doubt that this will be an once in a lifetime opportunity for many anglers and an experience that money can't buy. The competition takes place over a period of 72 hours during which anglers will be required to cope with a little bit less sleep and and a whole lot more fishing. Based on previous results we are roughly looking at total catch weights between 700kg and 1000kg per peg (2 Anglers). The average weight of carp ranges between 2.8kg and 7kg.
