At Bank Angler Australia, we are proud to champion fishing styles where anglers fish from the bank using a baited hook rather than artificial lures. These include Bank Angling, Pole, Waggler, Feeder, and Specimen fishing — disciplines ideal for targeting species such as Perch, Bream, and Koi/Carp.
Our mission is to provide anglers with the knowledge, equipment, bait, and club-based opportunities needed not just to get involved, but to excel and truly enjoy the sport. A major part of our vision is to create a healthy environment where these fishing styles can flourish. Achieving this will require more angler-friendly regulations and greater access to suitable venues.
Unfortunately, the Government, through the National Carp Control Plan (NCCP), is considering the deliberate release of the Carp/Koi Herpes Virus to control carp numbers. Rather than simply opposing this plan, we are actively promoting a constructive alternative: the Carp Australia Resource Project (C.A.R.P.).
Through C.A.R.P., we advocate for the systematic reduction of carp biomass in overpopulated areas alongside the increase of native fish populations — nature’s own solution. A more balanced and stable ecosystem will benefit not only our sport but all stakeholders connected to our waterways.
In many countries, carp are recognized for their enormous social and economic value. Our goal is to ensure Australians are equally well-informed about the positive opportunities associated with carp. Beyond opposing the virus release, we are committed to seeing our alternative strategy adopted and managed responsibly to prevent a recurrence of the issues we face today.
