BANK ANGLER TRANS-TASMAN COMPETITION
The Bank Angler Trans-Tasman event is unlike any other carp angling competition in Australia. It offers Carp, Conventional and Coarse anglers from Australia and New Zealand an unique opportunity to not only compete but also to build and strengthen ties between our two countries. Many immigrants and a growing number of Australian and New Zealand born anglers thoroughly enjoy these different carp angling styles and we hope to see all these styles represented at the 2025 Bank Angler Trans Tasman competition. (BATT2025)
The Competition will be held during the week of 24 - 28 March at beautiful Blowering Dam in New South Wales. Those who attended the previous events thoroughly enjoyed themselves and simply can not wait for the 2023 competition. Registration for BATT 2025 is now open. The cut-off date for Registration fees will only be around early 2025. (Date to be confirmed)

It is undoubtedly going to be another very enjoyable week. During previous events loads of 5 - 8kg+ carp were caught with the current event record standing at 12.95kg (Caught by Stuart Hammond, 2021). We know there are much bigger specimens swimming around and hope to land some in 2025. Highest combined weight for 6 biggest is 64.01kg, caught by the 2021 competition winners, Hayden Norman and Jez Hall.
Some anglers attend the event for the pure enjoyment of spending time with fellow like minded anglers whereas others will draw on decades of experience and knowledge to put in place game plans which will hopefully reward them with top honours. Opportunities like this does not exist in Australia or New Zealand and we hope to see a good turnout with some healthy competition. Having the event over a period of 5 days is also important to allow anglers enough time to implement their game plans. Competing for the highest combined total weight of the 2-man team's 6 biggest fish means that one or two big wish will likely not be enough to secure the top spot, it will require 5 days of clever fishing to walk away as winners.
Showcasing the sport to the Australian public can only lead to a steady growth in participation numbers. Exposing them to our passion and Carp's untold story will also help people to have a better understanding of why we promote a more sensible approach to carp control by properly managing the species internationally renowned potential as sport fish and resource. Country towns will reap the rewards whilst whole communities as well as anglers and their families thoroughly enjoy the social benefits associated with the sport. It happens all over the world and there is no reason why it can't be the case here in Australia and New Zealand.
It is important to note that this is not a carp cull event and that the competition will be held according to the International ethics of Carp Angling as a Sport.

LOCATION:
MORE ABOUT BLOWERING DAM:
Blowering Dam is situated in the lower reaches of the Snowy Mountains and Kosciusko National Park between the townships of Talbingo and Tumut. The location in which the dam is situated could be the reason as to why it is such a unique fishery. It sits at a low enough altitude to home a strong population of native species, although it still sits high enough to receive the positives of cooler water temps and sparkling snow melt waters that are associated with the alpine trout dams. With such good numbers of natives along with the crystal clear snow melt waters that allow visibility of up to five meters, this dam is capable of producing outstanding sight fishing opportunities for Murray cod and other natives. This dam is home to some of the largest Murray cod in the country and keen anglers
travel long distances to try their luck on these trophy fish. The fish are extremely healthy with majority of the resident cod being very fat for their length due to the abundance of food in the dam. All this is very good news for a competition where catching large carp is more important than catching lots of carp. Having a large population of big Native Predators is important to insure lower numbers but bigger average size carp.
The scenery is another reason to visit this magical lake. It sits in a large valley surrounded by mountainous terrain, pine and gum forests
with flat grassy camp spots and a perfect climate.
This is one week in the year you do not want to miss out on. It is going to be great, no doubt about it! Come on, get your fishing buddy, decide on a suitable name for your team and REGISTER. If you do not have a team mate, get in contact with us or register and we will add you to the "Pre-Registered" list where other angler can see who are still looking for a team mate.
